Make the Call to Stop SB26

Anti-library bill SB 26 has not been listed on the special calendar yet - let’s make sure that doesn’t happen.

Key Points for Your Call:

  • SB26 politicizes library boards by stripping away due process for library board members, who would be subject to removal from their position for no cause on politically motivated whims. It strips local boards of stability and creates an environment that allows more big government overreach into local institutions designed to hold information for every Alabamian regardless of race, sex, creed, and religion.

  • Senator Elliott blatantly said this was to allow more censorship of our children’s collections based on the complaints of nationally funded special interest groups - not Alabamians.

  • As your constituent, I insist that you not entertain such attacks on our libraries and instead protect the autonomy of library boards and my family’s First Amendment rights to access information in the public libraries that my taxes fund.

Your state Senator's phone number and email is available on the official state directory page at: https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/senate-leaders-members?tab=1. Please make the call today!

SPREAD THE WORD: Please share the "Stop SB26" campaign call-to-action with your friends, family, and colleagues across Alabama. If this gets out of committee, we need everyone to contact their state legislators.
