You did it! More than 2,000 emails and calls flooded the inboxes and voicemails of your representatives, and, as a result, SB 26 never made it to the House floor. This is the third year in a row we have killed anti-library legislation, and that shows just how unpopular these proposals are to the average Alabama family.
However, this is one fight in a longer battle. Rest assured, this bill will return as Sen. Chris Elliott has said he will keep introducing it in order to bend our local boards to the will of an extreme, anti-library minority. We will be as relentless. Thank you again for using your voice to let our politicians know this bill doesn't serve or reflect the best interests of our Alabama communities.
With that in mind, we need your help in giving us feedback to continue the fight to protect our public libraries…

President Trump’s FY2027 budget proposal forces the shutdown of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the only federal funding source for libraries and museums.
This budget directly threatens the federal government’s longstanding commitment to libraries, archives, and museums, and the essential services they provide to people like you.
Can you take a moment to let your representative know how you feel about the budget cut to IMLS?
